Office Granny In Heels

The War Part 2: Google - the empire strikes back!

Google hits back at the search engines: Now is visually searched and displayed in real time and gives the whole thing is also on the mobile devices. Google defends his position, but Microsoft with Bing and his heavy investment will gain further market share. New locations are the books, e-books, news and print media with their digital strategy, but here's Google well positioned.

dominated the browsers Microsoft still clear, but Google Chrome has achieved with the overhaul of Safari, and 4.4% share, at least one respect success. Firefox takes IE however steadily from market share and has at least caught up with him in Germany already. The regulation of the EU also works for Microsoft competitors. More important than the browser itself, the browser applications, which are the web applications running in the browser. Here, Google is clearly in pole position with applications such as G-Mail, Picasa, Maps, Earth ...

The key battleground is mobile devices. Apple has shown what is possible, and Google has almost digested. Android is a real hit. There are now about 20 - 30 devices with the Google system and it will be next year probably 50 more. Just the hype around the Google Phone shows the potential. Google Android is fast Windows Mobile and Apple iPhone OS in the next two years to get to numbers. Apple feels quite comfortable in his niche with the high margins. Android is the standard in the middle segment in 20010/11 and thus in the mass market - all mobile phones are smart phones, if the operator to come along to network expansion. The phones are just a start. A variety of mobile devices, the "always connected" are, will mark the year 2010. The blast is the "OS Chrome" from Google, if the Web-based computer, netbook, ... nothing - or perhaps for 30 to 50 € are. It is financed entirely by advertising and make fewer demands on the hardware - it just needs a browser that is bad for Intel, but good for ARM.

completely new ground, real-time twittering a la Twitter and more and more users are moving in this environment. However, this division is still in the early phase in separating the wheat from spreading. Falling stars as "MySpace" on one and start shooting like Facebook and Twitter on the other side. The real-time results in the search to work is the little story - I do not mean the technology requirements. In the medium term Goggle buy the market leader, and how successfully integrate YouTube.

The web-centric computing is the future! I'm at it my "own" or "private cloud" to conceive. Microsoft does not matter anymore, but Google, Linux and Open Source very well! It will definitely be exciting.
